Thanks to everyone for suggesting and featuring this tutorial as a Daily Deviation! It gives me incentive to finish this project and to make a few more tutorials.
Furthermore I hope that people realize better how much work game developers have to put into their games and also appreciate their works a bit more.

Pixel Art Tutorial - Tree by ~Kiwinuptuo. Even if you're not a pixel artist, this is a great tutorial to give you an appreciation of the amount of detailed work that goes into designing just one tree for a pixel game environment. I'm not entirely sure what this artist used in particular, but I would recommend using Gimp. While I haven't uploaded any of the pixel art I've created, I know that it's fairly easy to use and many others use it as well. This is just my recommendation, so you don't have to get the program if you don't want to. ^w^
